18th century South Staffordshire Bilston enamel gingham snuff box

An 18th century, c.1770, South Staffordshire, Bilston enamel snuff box, of oval form, with pink gingham ground, with fruit in raised relief on a green square cartouche, leaves in small white cartouches, and floral decorations in raised relief, a white base with collector’s sticker, white interior, and gilt metal mounts.

Condition: Exceptionally good for age and type. There is a shallow depression near the centre of the lid, which must be original as there is no associated cracking of the enamel. We only noticed the grey mark/line next to one of the leaf cartouches on the lid after photography - it is dirt, not damage and has since been cleaned off. The same applies to the dark marks immediately below the metal mount where it joins the body of the box, which have also been removed. We could not find any damage at all to the exterior of the box or its lid. There is single hairline on the side of the interior and a very small chip where the side meets the metal mount (both visible in our images). The gilding of the metal mounts is worn. Examined under ultraviolet light and no restoration found.
