A Wang Hing Chinese export silver scent bottle in the form of a tortoise or turtle, circa 1920, beautifully modelled, the head unscrewing as the stopper. Fully marked.

Notes: Wang Hing began as a Canton jade dealer before growing into the most famous and prolific retailer of Chinese export silver during the late China Trade era. By the late 19th century, the firm established ties with Western silversmiths and showcased its work at international exhibitions. Seeking further growth, the company expanded into Shanghai and ultimately opened its flagship retail store in Hong Kong in 1920.
